To be able to get past the rifts and get access to mines and other resources you need to build the bridge, which costs a high amount of resources (200wood & 150iron) and is only available in this DLC map. ![]() This on top of the restrictive nature of the map mean it is a definite no from me.Ī single map for endless mode with rifts (holes in the ground) around your very small starting area. I know this is part of the challenge of the map but the cost is soo huge it just makes the whole experience frustrating. This completely goes against any freedom the ability to build bridges should allow and serves to actually make the map much more restrictive than those in the base game and limits your build options hugely.Īlso (as a gameplay aside) the bridges are massively expensive but you need them to be able to access any resources, locking you into a failure circle as you can't gather enough on the starting areas to both build bridges to the new areas and to satisfy your people. The bridges can only be used on the single new map and also CAN ONLY BE BUILT IN PRE-DEFINED LOCATIONS. The idea of using bridges to expand your city along different lines is an interesting one but it fails in the execution. Now don't get me wrong, Frostpunk is an under-exposed and under-appreciated absolute gem of a game that I have and continue to enjoy immensely. If you love this game you probably already have it, otherwise grab it when you can. I could see some being slightly annoyed at the size of this DLC but the cost is low and it did create some decent challenges for expansion. Overall, I love Frostpunk so more of it is not a bad thing for me. I do wish the DLC had a bit more to it, maybe even a new scenario instead of just a new endless mode. I found myself creating little satellite villages surrounding steam hubs and found that the aesthetic was pleasing. I do wish there was more bite to this one but it does heavily change your design for building. That’s really it…the content is very small in that it takes you next to no time to absorb it in its entirety but I do have to acknowledge that it did take time to design the new map, the new building and some new scenes. ![]() Let’s Discuss.īurning Bridges: This DLC includes a new map, designed specifically for the new building the Bridge, which allows you to cross gaps. With that said I will share my thoughts and I hope it helps you decide if it is right for you. I absolutely loved Frostpunk and eagerly await the sequal so it’s going to be hard for me not to enjoy the DLC. Greetings! I’m back! I recently noticed the DLC for Frostpunk was on sale so I’ll be reviewing “The Rifts” a small DLC for the parent game.
